Config files in etc need updating

I have an original DM500HD and currently running Open PLi and suspect it is time to update to a later version.

The current one is: Enigma Version: Open PLi 2010-09-10-master Image Version: openpli-1.0-2010-09-06 I have a couple of questions before I do this......

Is it a fairly straightforward process to update the image? I have a motorised dish and it took hours to set up the 6 or so satellites I use - in fact, I had to get someone in to do it and it cost quite a bit!

(3x S2), VU Zero, Edision OS mini , ET10000 (4x S2) For testing purposes: XP1000, Formuler F1 (2x S2), Miraclebox Premium Micro (S2 C/T), ET7500 (S2), ET8500 (S2), Zgemma H2.

H (S2 C), Zgemma H5.2TC (S2 C/T), SAB Triple Alpha (S2 C/T), Galaxy 4K (FBC), VU Zero 4K, Edision OS nino 1. I use a USB stick in all my boxes, also handy for the autobackup (install it after you have flashed, so you don't have to do this again! login using telnet (I think DCC can do that too), and type "init 4" on the commandline. This is what I have done....

Flashed the latest Open PLi image.

Do I need to flash the SSL84 to it before this and, if so, do I use Dream Up to do that as well?

Couple of question on running Dream Up

What do I select for the serial port or doesn't it matter?

If you have any plugins installed, re-install them first after you've flashed it, and before you restore your backup. No, I have not got Autobackup, so, I have to do as you suggest.

Or, maybe, there is a way to save before the update and restore afterwards.
Thanks! If you haven't installed the autobackup plugin, you'll have to save stuff by hand, as you can't install it anymore.

It saves: - /etc/passwd - /etc/fstab - /etc/cron/* - /etc/dropbear/* - /etc/enigma2/* - /etc/network/interfaces - /etc/samba/- /etc/tuxbox/config/* - /etc/- /etc/(or other configs if you use a different softcam) - /etc/Copy this manually to a USB stick before you flash the new image.
